Expanding Hyper-V Guest Virtual Hard Disks

We have just been involved in a Hyper-V project which required us to expand the size of the virtual hard disks (VHD) of several Virtual Machines. The customer had a Hyper-V Server which had a number of Windows and Linux Virtual Guests running on top of it. Both the Windows and Linux virtual machines had been created with VHD files that were sufficient at the time but the servers had since outgrown them. We were familiar with Expanding Windows Guest virtual hard disks on Hyper-V however had not had to perform the task on a Linux Virtual Server.

After some searching on the web using every search phrase we could imagine (Expand Linux Hyper-V Guest VHD, Increase the size of your Linux Virtual Machine on Hyper-V, etc) we finally came across a couple of articles that were directed at adding additional hard disks to a Linux LVM. We were then able to combine our previous Hub on Expanding a Windows Guest VHD and the information we found on adding additional space to a Linux LVM (Logical Volume Manager) to create our Hub on Expanding the Disk Volume on a Hyper-V Linux Guest.

WebsitePanel ASP.NET Requirement Unexpected Error

Well I've just managed to solve a major problem on a Virtuozzo Guest when trying to install WebsitePanel 1.1.2. I was receiving an Unexpected Error when testing the ASP.NET Requirements and was receiving the following errors in the Installer Log:

[4/18/2011 6:26:10 AM] ERROR: Check error

System.Management.ManagementException: Generic failure

at System.Management.ManagementException.ThrowWithExtendedInfo(ManagementStatus errorCode)

at System.Management.ManagementObjectCollection.ManagementObjectEnumerator.MoveNext()

at System.Management.ManagementObjectCollection.get_Count()

at WebsitePanel.Setup.ConfigurationCheckPage.IsWebServerRoleInstalled()

at WebsitePanel.Setup.ConfigurationCheckPage.CheckASPNET(String& details)

After stumbling upon this post http://sourceforge.net/projects/websitepanel/forums/forum/1126062/topic/3953118 I was able to solve my problem which was simply that the SERVER Service was set to manual and was not currently started.

I changed the Service to Automatic and Started it and was then able to successfully install WebsitePanel.

Microsoft SBS RWW The wizard cannot configure the Remote Desktop Connection settings

We've just solved a major issue with the Remote Web Workplace on an SBS Server 2008.
The client was receiving the error The wizard cannot configure the Remote Desktop Connection Settings. Make sure that the client version of Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) 6.0 or later is installed on this computer.

Outlook 2007 2010 - The name on the security certificate is invalid or does not match the name of the site.

If you've just upgraded your users to Outlook 2010 or 2007 then you've probably come across this error message. Or perhaps you've just recently changed your digital cert on your exchange server.
